Replacement housing / repair solution for the Saab 9-5 OG Wagon third brake light – OEM part number 5335864.

PLEASE NOTE: This product is NOT a complete third brake light assembly. It is a replacement housing repair kit for your existing Saab 9-5 OG Wagon third brake light (5335864). Your original LED strip, electronics and glass are reused.

Two options are available:

Mail-In Repair Service – Send your original Saab 9-5 OG Wagon third brake light to KM-tronics and we will rebuild the unit using our replacement housing. - Please contact us first for ordering a mail-in-service.

Saab 9-5 OG Wagon third brake light housing failure

The original Saab 9-5 OG Wagon third brake light, part number 5335864, has become a common failure point as these cars age. The original housing can develop cracks, leaks or sealing problems around both the housing and glass.

The problem can become particularly noticeable after the third brake light has been removed from the vehicle, as the aged plastic and seals can become brittle.

New OEM Saab 9-5 Wagon third brake light assemblies are no longer readily available, while good used 5335864 units are becoming increasingly difficult to find. For this reason, KM-tronics developed a replacement housing that allows the original third brake light to be repaired instead of replacing the complete assembly.

Upgraded ASA replacement housing

Our replacement Saab 9-5 5335864 third brake light housing is manufactured from high-quality ASA rather than conventional ABS.

ASA provides excellent UV and weather resistance and is therefore well suited to exterior automotive applications. The housing also receives additional post-processing and chemical treatment to improve its surface, structural integrity and resistance to water ingress.

The result is a replacement housing designed specifically to give existing Saab 9-5 OG Wagon third brake lights a second life.

DIY Repair Kit

The DIY version is intended for customers who want to rebuild their own Saab 9-5 Wagon third brake light.

The kit includes the replacement housing together with a strip of butyl sealant for bonding/sealing the original glass to the new housing.

You will need to transfer the components from your existing third brake light into the replacement housing. The LED strip, electronics and glass are NOT included.

When reinstalling the completed third brake light into the vehicle, an appropriate automotive water sealant / sealing putty must also be applied around the outside of the housing to prevent water ingress between the lamp and vehicle body.

Installation requires some technical ability and should be carried out carefully.

Mail-In Repair Service

Don't want to rebuild the unit yourself?

Select our Mail-In Repair Service and send your original Saab 9-5 OG Wagon third brake light 5335864 to KM-tronics.

We will disassemble the original unit, install the replacement housing and rebuild the third brake light for you.

Current turnaround time is approximately 1–3 weeks, depending on workload and parts availability.

Please ensure the original glass, LED strip and electronics are suitable for reuse. Damage to these components is not repaired or replaced as part of the standard housing repair service unless separately agreed.

Exchange Service – Coming Soon

We are also working on an exchange system for Saab 9-5 OG Wagon third brake lights (5335864).

Once available, this will allow customers to order a rebuilt unit and return their original third brake light afterwards, reducing the time the vehicle has to remain without its brake light.

The exchange service is currently under development and is NOT yet available through our webshop.

Warranty

For units repaired through our Mail-In Repair Service and installed correctly, a limited 6-month warranty against housing leaks applies to the repaired 5335864 housing.

The warranty applies to the replacement/repaired housing only. It does not cover the original LED strip, electronics, glass, pre-existing damage or cracks in the original components.

DIY Repair Kits are supplied without any warranty. Correct assembly, bonding, sealing and installation are entirely the responsibility of the customer.

Important information

This replacement housing is manufactured from ASA. As with larger thermoplastic automotive components, minor dimensional variation can occur during manufacturing, shipping or air transport.

In some cases, minor sanding or fitting may be required during installation. A dimensional variation of approximately 1–2 mm can occur and does not necessarily indicate a defective product.

Please inspect and test-fit the housing before permanently bonding the glass.
