Saab 9-3 NG Estate LED Bar (Griffin Style) – DIY Version

Update 3-7-26: The new batch is almost ready but we still need to test a few bits and pieces so there is a slight delay till our test vehicle is ready for testing once more. We expect to have the new batch online by 15 juli with some changes and new pictures.


Update 1-7-2026 : This page will get an update on 15-7-2026, all will then be notified of ledbars being available. Keep in mind that we're reducing the options to 2 colors ledbars (smoked and oem) and with only bright LED's from now on, where the normal LED's are only available on specific demand. The chrome decor strip is removed. Only the logo will be done in 1 of 3 colors, chrome silver, chrome titanium, light up logo. Pictures will be made available on 30-6-2026. 

Upgrade the rear look of your Saab 9-3 Sport Estate with this custom Griffin-style LED bar, developed in-house by KM-tronics.

This DIY version is designed for enthusiasts who want full control over installation while achieving a modern OEM+ appearance. This item is NOT part of the original light architecture and is simply for show and off-road use purposes. 

All ledbars from KM-tronics are supplied with a standard off switch. Where the owner needs to turn on the ledbar by flicking the switch to the ON position.

What’s Included

  • 1x LED bar (93NG Estate glass + selected options)

  • 2x Tie wraps (for cable management)

  • 4x Side mounting clips (2 spare)

  • 2x License plate lights (required for functionality)

  • 1x Darkening strip (to fully remove light bleed from the license plate lights.)

  • 1x intergrated in wiring on/off switch (to be mounted in the trunk area of the car)

Product Overview

This LED bar integrates directly into the original license plate light housing of your Saab 9-3 NG Estate.

This DIY version requires you to modify and reuse your own license plate light housing.

A mail-in installation service will be available separately on a later date.

Light Output Options

  • Normal version (lowest output)

    • Subtle during daytime, only visible on cloudy days not visible in full sunlight.

    • A subtle visual effect at night clearly visible from 10-15m behind the car. With very defined edges.

  • Bright version (coming soon)

    • Comparable brightness to rear tail lights, visible both during the day and at night.

⏱️ Installation Time

  • LED bar assembly: 30 min – 1.5 hours

  • Full installation on vehicle: 45 min – 1h 15 min

  • Total: ~1h 15 min to 2h 45 min
    (depending on experience level)

Required Tools for installation

  • Cutting tool (to modify license plate housing)

  • Pliers (for clips and adjustments)

  • Adhesive kit (recommended: Sikaflex 552 RTV)

  • Scissors (for wiring adjustments and cutting)

No soldering required

  • Do not exceed 210 km/h → risk of clip failure

  • Off-road use only – check local regulations for road legality

  • This is an aftermarket product, not manufactured by Saab AB or Scania AB

Heat & Material Behavior

  • May loose alignment above 100° celsius

  • Avoid parking facing direct sunlight a

  • Contact us if you operate in extreme climates

Additional Considerations

  • Minor optical imperfections (<2 mm) may occur due to mixture curing

  • On hot days, alignment may shift slightly and restore itself when it cools down again.

  • Low-speed (<80 km/h) high-pitched noise may occur (normal version light output version only, depending on vehicle sound isolation)

Warranty

Shipping Damage

Notify us as soon as possible after arrival of the ledbar, at the latest after 96H if your ledbar suffered transport damage.

Functional Issues

  • Report within 6 months of purchase

  • A 6 month warranty applies on the workings of the ledbar, a 96 hour after shipping warranty applies on the glas itself (cracks, tears, broken chips on the outsides edges). 

Tip:
If you cannot install within 6 months, test functionality using your vehicle trunk connector upon arrival. To ensure that the ledbar survived being shipped as unfortunately all shipping courriers dont care about the content of any package or insurance placed on it...
