Saab 93 T8 ECU repair service
SAAB T8 ECU Repair Service – Tested & Warranty Included
The Saab T8 ECU repair service is the product that established our reputation in early 2020. The Trionic 8 (T8) system represents Saab’s advanced engine management platform, known for its performance—but also for specific, recurring faults over time.
At KM-Tronics, we specialize in the Saab 9-3 T8 ECU repair, restoring your ECU to reliable working condition.
What Our T8 ECU Repair Includes
- Repair of the current fault(s) in your ECU
- Preventive measurement and testing of other critical internal components
- Real-world testing on our in-house test vehicles
- Standard inclusion of a heatshield for improved longevity
- Detailed ECU test report provided after repair
- A Plug and play ready solution for your Saab T8 ECU.
All ECUs are tested on our own vehicles, including a high-mileage Saab 9-3 B207 (93NG) with over 500,000 km, of which more than 250,000 km are dedicated ECU test mileage.
⚠️ Supported Fault Codes (DTCs)
We repair Saab T8 ECUs with the following error codes:
Injector Faults
- P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204, P0245, P0246
Cooling Fan Faults
- P0686, P0687, P0691, P0693, P0695

Additional Faults
- P1682 (in some cases repairable).

- P0638 (throttle valve malfunction – low success rate).
- P2135, P2138, P2122, P0122 (throttle-related – partially repairable).
If your ECU shows one or more of these codes, it is eligible for repair but contact us first as for example P0638 and P1681 are not repairable together.
Warranty & Protection
Every standard repair includes a T8 ECU heatshield, because we do not return any ECU without added protection.
- 1-year warranty + 15 days installation period
- Warranty applies only if all other electronical parts are original.
- Optional upgrade: 2-meter relocation kit → extends warranty to 2 years, currently unavailable.
Testing & Quality Assurance
During the repair process:
- Your ECU is tested on a dedicated test engine
- If needed, we perform real driving tests for validation
This ensures that once returned, your ECU delivers reliable Saab performance again.
Repair Time
- Typical turnaround: 1 to 2 weeks (repair + delivery)
Expected Lifespan After Repair
On average, a repaired ECU with heatshield lasts:
2 to 6 years, depending on the condition of other internal components
We repair the active fault(s) and assess known weak points, but aging components may still fail over time.
⚠️ Important Disclaimer
- New faults may appear after the repair due to underlying issues in the vehicle or previously masked errors
- We recommend contacting us if new fault codes appear—we can help determine whether the issue is ECU-related or vehicle-related
Software Compatibility (Important)
Your ECU is returned with the same software it was sent with. Compatibility depends on part number (PN):
- PN ending 688 / 571 → MY2003–2004 (with SAI)
- PN ending 231 → Early: MY2004 (SAI), Later: MY2005–2006
- PN ending 1881 / 020 → Facelift models up to 2012 (no SAI)
- PN ending 225 → MY2008–2012 (SAI & non-SAI, may require correct programming)
