Saab 9-3 V6 ECU Repair Service (ME9.6 / E55) – ECU Rebuild & Cloning

At KM-tronics, we have been offering a specialized repair service for the ME9.6 ECU (also known as the E55 ECU or Saab 9-3 NG V6 ECU) since 2023.

This is a service we take pride in. Even Bosch typically avoids repairing these units due to their complex construction, which includes:

  • Gold bonding traces
  • Silver-based components
  • Die and wirebond structures
  • A highly fragile ceramic PCB

Despite these challenges, we have developed proven methods to reliably repair these ECUs.

Supported Fault Codes

We can repair the ME9.6 ECU for the following common fault codes:

  • Injector faults: P0201 – P0206
  • Barometric pressure sensor fault: P2228
  • Communication errors: U2105

Additionally, in some cases, we can restore damaged power circuits caused by a failing or unstable battery.

We also offer a 1:1 ECU cloning service, allowing you to transfer all data from your original unit to a replacement ECU. This is ideal for a plug-and-play installation without additional programming.

Professional Internal Repair & Sealing

During repair, defective ICs are replaced at component level. Afterward, the ECU is resealed using a high-quality protective compound comparable to OEM sealing.

  • OEM-grade protection against heat and contamination
  • Cost-effective alternative (without extreme OEM material pricing)
  • Ensures long-term durability after repair

Upgraded Back Cover

All repaired ECUs are fitted with our improved back cover, featuring:

  • Reinforced waffle-pattern design for added strength
  • Higher-grade plastic material
  • Up to +25°C higher heat resistance compared to the original cover

This ensures reliability even in extreme environments such as hot climates.

Anti-Vibration Upgrade

Every repaired ME9.6 ECU will be supplied with our anti-vibration kit, addressing the primary failure cause: vibration.

Despite the ECU’s excellent heat resistance (thanks to ceramic PCB construction and thermal materials), vibration remains the biggest threat to long-term reliability.

Typical observations:

  • Internal PCB temperatures: 40–50°C
  • External ECU housing temperatures: 100°C+

This confirms that heat is not the main issue—vibration is.

Warranty

We provide a 12-month warranty under the following conditions:

  • The anti-vibration kit must be installed
  • All warranty terms must be met
  • Warranty starts from the invoice date

Important Exclusions

Fault codes P0443, P0445 and U2105 are not covered under warranty, as they are typically caused by:

  • Wiring harness faults (short circuits).
  • Defective EVAP components.
  • A bad battery or ground.

Important:
Any damaged wiring (e.g. melted insulation or shorted sections) must be repaired before installing the ECU. Check the injector harnas and connector to the left side of the turbo for molten wires or a molten connector before installing the repaired ME9 or it will get the same injector error again within a few weeks time.

Plug & Play Service & Turnaround Time

If you use our service, your repaired ME9.6 ECU will be returned fully tested, ready to install, and plug & play.

  • Shipping: 1–3 weeks after receiving your ECU
